-------------------------------------------------------------------
Below are the first offers of content to be distributed via the new
ReachRadio service. Even if you don't spot anything of interest in
this week's mail-out (although we hope you do!) we think you'll see
the clear benefits of the service.
And *please don't forget* that if you do get in touch with any of
the content providers listed below, tell them you saw their pitch
in the ReachRadio mail-out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
[+] NOT ENOUGH SEX IN THE CITY
-------------------------------------------------------------------
40% of urban singles say they're not getting as much sex as they'd
like, according to Yahoo! Personals, the online dating site.
Yahoo!'s research suggests that many single people see online
dating as a solution to this problem - it claims 1 in 3 single
people are now using an online dating service, a number that looks
set to increase.
In January 6 out of 10 unmarried women said dumping a useless
boyfriend was top of their New Year's resolution list. The dirty
deed done they'll be joining the 28% of single women who expect to
be on line next week, looking for a Valentine's date.
Available for interview:
Yahoo! Personals Love Doctor - Jose Adams - from early doors Friday
Yahoo! Personals Dating Expert - Ian Tester - anytime Thursday
What they can say:
recent research suggests relationships started online have a better
than average chance of success in the real world. Studies suggest
that not having to worry initially about our physical appearance
means we can concentrate more on the actual communication attitudes
have changed - communication via the internet is now commonplace
and it has become the medium of choice for young cash-rich,
time-poor professionals looking for love. the number of people
using online dating services reflects the increase in number of
people who have access to the internet
To set up an interview, or to see Yahoo! Personals annual report
into the UK online dating industry ("The Dating Business") please
call Keren Haynes on 020 8 569 7770, mobile 07714 723 743. Or

We also have case studies of people dating on line.
BACKGROUND TO ONLINE DATING:
3.5 million people are already accessing online dating sites each
month there are 200+ dating sites in the UK peaks in activity can
be seen between 12 and 2pm as professionals log on to find love in
their lunch hour the number of people living alone has nearly
doubled in the last 30 years to 10 million (Office of National
Statistics)

[+] DETOX THROUGH YOUR FEET!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
We are offering a service which enables people to detox their
bodies without changing their diet or drinking potent 'detox
formulas'. We have found that people who have visited us feeling
exhausted and very lethargic and tired all the time but not
sleeping have noticed drastic improvements in their lifestyles. It
simply involves immersing ones feet in a footbath filled with water
and the apparatus bio-energetically stimulates the body, enabling
it to self detox through the pores in the feet. It is a very visual
treatment with green, brown or red 'lumps' floating around in the
water at the end of the treatment. We have helped many people with
various problems such as psoriasis, breathing difficulties,
arthritis, irritible bowel syndrome, headaches, etc. This treatment
is completely non-invasive and we have had lots of positive
feedback. If you feel this may be of interest for a story, please
do not hesitate to contact us and we would be happy to bring the
machines along to demonstrate.

[+] JARGONBUSTER AND CLARITY CAMPAIGNER
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Plain English Campaign spokesman John Lister is available for any
sujbect involving the clarity of written information, and can
cover:
the dangers of gobbledygook and jargon;
tips on writing clearly; and
examples of baffling information.
The Campaign deals with both the lighter side of ambiguous writing,
and the more serious social, political and financial problems
caused by crimes against clarity.
Some of the subjects the Campaign has spoken on include pensions
and financial information, medical writing, legalese, business
jargon, and the effects of e-mail, texting and the internet on
written communication.
John Lister is available on an ISDN line (suitable for both BBC and
independent station systems) during office hours, and can usually
reach studios in Manchester during evenings, weekends and breakfast
show slots.

[+] FRAUD EXPERT TELLS IT THE FEMALE WAY
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Liesel Annible is a fraud expert. She is Litigation Support
Director of Bentley Jennison Chartered Accountants in Leeds and is
also UK President of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
and a member of the national Fraud Advisory Panel ( the independent
body of volunteers drawn from the law and accountancy, banking,
insurance, commerce, regulators, the police, government departments
and public agencies founded in 1998 by the Institute of Chartered
Accountants)
She is very experienced at speaking in public, often called as an
expert witness in fraud cases and could offer an interesting slant
on accountancy not necessarily being a 'grey job'.
She works closely with the police and other agencies on identifying
financial crime and as the introduction of the Proceeds of Crime
Act grows ever nearer is very involved in training colleagues in
the detection of crime and their responsibilities under the new
money laundering legislation. Recently she was instrumental in
organising a lecture visit to the UK by the main (female) Enron
whistle-blower - and interestingly observes that - although she is
without full statistical data - it seems that the majority of
whistle-blowers and also of fraud investigators are women.
She would make a very interesting and lively guest perhaps on a
business programme or in a career based slot on what women are
doing in the workplace or to counter the 'boring'image of
accountants. She is also a keen amateur theatrical, and has planned
a trip to study flamenco dance in Granada.

[+] VALENTINE'S PRESENT FOR THE MAN WHO THOUGHT HE HAD EVERYTHING
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you planning to do a pre-Valentines Day Gift ideas feature?
If so we have a very desirable gift here - not cheap but something
potentially life and licence saving. This product is usually used
by men.
So what is it?
A GPS speed trap detector! This is an attractive little LCD device
that sits inside your car on the dash. It works using GPS and
detects all fixed and mobile speed traps. As as well as accident
blackspots, congestion cameras and schools (time sensitive).
It tells you the vehicle speed, road number that you are on,
direction of camera (so no false alarms) and gives audio and
visible warnings if you are approaching a camera at above the speed
limit. I'm sure your listeners would love to hear about this??
It's perfectly legal and and a MORI Poll reported that these
devices actually reduce accidents (drivers are more speed aware and
there is no more sudden braking when cameras come into view).
It costs £429 retail from www.originb2.com or call 0207 381 3000
(loads more info on the site)
More details or interviews with company founder possible.
